Historically, women have been underrepresented in computer science and STEM careers. In response to this disparity, we decided to start early and ignite the passion for computer science in middle school girls. In late 2023, we (two high school girls) created Tech Together, dedicated to sharing our passion for computing with younger girls. By offering individual coaching, online, and in-person group sessions, partnerships with Girl Scouts, and AI Techathons, Tech Together provided opportunities for more than 135 students to explore computing concepts, build problem-solving skills, and foster a sense of community. The program emphasized fun, hands-on activities, and collaborative learning. In addition to this, our Snap!-centered AI Techathon lasted the span of a weekend and featured more than 20 participants using Snap and other programs in collaboration with AI to create projects that would then be showcased and judged. Over the twelve months of our initiative, we saw an increase in female participation and engagement, highlighting the importance of near-peer role models and programming events.
