After completing my studies in computer science and philosophy with a focus on artificial intelligence and machine learning at Humboldt University in Berlin in 2007 and working as a project engineer for several years, I worked as a secondary school teacher in Baden-Württemberg, teaching computer science and mathematics. Since my first contact as a kid with computers in the late 1980s, I have been fascinated by the topics of artificial intelligence and machine learning, and have also written books on topics such as reinforcement learning. As part of my work in the computing education group at the Free University of Berlin since 2022, I researched and taught AI literacy to teacher training students and teachers of non-computer science subjects. Since 1 September 2025, I have been working at the University of Konstanz, where the aim is to scale up the existing study program in computer science for the further training of active teachers for the newly introduced school subject and to adapt the learning units to the new curriculum, which includes, among other things, the development of new units with a focus on Artificial Intelligence.
